On its 15th anniversary, the Popular Front delivered a piece of Eternal Flame from the Grave of the Unknown Soldier to Dagestan and handed over humanitarian aid to families affected by the flood. This was reported on May 6 in the press service of the movement.
"During the Great Patriotic War, the republic made a significant contribution to the overall Victory. More than 70 of its natives became Heroes of the Soviet Union. Dagestan continues to do the same today in its fields. For our part, we, as the Popular Front, are also doing everything possible to help the fighters and bring a common Victory closer," said Mikhail Kuznetsov, head of the Executive Committee of the Popular Front.
The transfer of the "Fire of Memory" took place in the Khasavyurt district on the Hill of Glory. Kuznetsov also noted that on May 6, 2011, the president launched the movement, and it is a great honor to bring the sacred flame today, on the day of the 15th anniversary.
"I am the son of a participant in the Great Patriotic War. There are missing people in my family, there are losses. The fire from the Grave of the Unknown Soldier is for me a symbol of memory, respect and pride. This is a link between generations, a reminder of the feat of our ancestors," said Zaibodin Omarov, Chairman of the Council of Veterans of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Khasavyurt.
The head of the regional executive committee of the Popular Front in Dagestan, Jamaludin Shigabudinov, in turn, stressed that today all of Russia is helping the republic, and unity is the key to past and future victories.
