Croatia has launched Europe's first commercial robotaxi service, providing rides in self-driving cars made in China. This was reported on May 6 by the Bloomberg news agency.

The Croatian startup Verne has started working in Zagreb, the capital of the country. According to the newspaper, their fleet includes 10 Arcfox Alpha T5 cars from the Chinese manufacturer BAIC Motor Corp. They are equipped with autonomous driving software from the Chinese company Pony AI Inc.

At the moment, an unmanned taxi can be ordered through the app at a fixed price of €1.99 (175 rubles). It is noted that in order to ensure safety at the first stage, there is a driver in the car who is ready to intervene in the management if necessary.

In January, Bloomberg reported that the American company Tesla Inc. had lost its status as the world's largest seller of electric vehicles, giving way to the Chinese BYD Co. According to the publication, BYD sold 2.26 million electric vehicles in 2025, while Tesla sold 1.64 million cars.
