The program of Victory Day celebrations in St. Petersburg has been published
St. Petersburg will celebrate the 81st anniversary of the Victory with a military parade, light installations, theatrical premieres and dozens of concerts, and the holiday will end with a traditional fireworks display at the walls of the Peter and Paul Fortress. The press service of the St. Petersburg Committee for Culture told Izvestia about the program of events for Victory Day.
Parade, fireworks and citywide actions
The central event of the day will be the military parade, which will begin on the Palace Square at 10:00 Moscow time. Immediately after its completion, a car rally will be held on Nevsky Prospekt with the participation of veterans of the Great Patriotic War and participants in a special military operation.
At 14:00, a Memorial Vigil will begin at the pier of the Srednyaya Nevka River, and at 14:45 there will be a "Sing Victory Songs" action at the Variety Theater.
A traditional commemorative firing of signal guns mounted on the Tsar's Bastion is planned in the Peter and Paul Fortress at 12:00, the St. Petersburg Committee for Culture said. After that, a festive concert with free admission will be held in Naryshkin Bastion from 14:00 to 17:00.
"On Victory Day, a festive concert will be held in the Peter and Paul Fortress, which will feature wartime songs, poems about the war and Victory. At the festival site, guests of the fortress will be able to see a replica of the "Victory car" — the famous truck and a half, and get acquainted with samples of small arms used by the Red Army during the Great Patriotic War. In the interactive zone "Battalion medical center of the Red Army of the period 1941-1945" you will learn about the work of military doctors. The Victory Post Office will be open in Ioannovsky Ravelin from 14:00 to 17:00 and master classes will be held," the Committee's press service reported.
On May 9 and 10, the Leningrad Zoo invites you to historical quests, guided tours and a documentary about the zoo's work during the siege of Leningrad. The exposition "Zoo during the years of the blockade" will open its doors to visitors, where you can get acquainted with the life of its employees during the war.
The Victory Dance Floor festival will be held on the square in front of Levashovsky Bakery from 13:00 to 20:00. Professional choreographers from the Crystal Dragon ancient dance Studio will conduct master classes in foxtrot, polka and waltz, the most popular dances of the first half of the 20th century.
The celebration will end with an artillery salute. Traditionally, it will be given at the walls of the Peter and Paul Fortress at 22:00.

The Committee on Energy and Engineering shared with Izvestia a plan for the festive decoration of the Northern Capital by May 9. The agency has planned a number of events that will change the appearance of the city in the evening and at night.
From May 8 to May 12, themed light projections will appear on the facades of nine buildings. Fire paintings can be seen on houses No. 44 on Shpalernaya Street, No. 26-28 on Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt, No. 70 on Bolshoy Prospekt Vasilyevsky Island, No. 85A on the 8th line, No. 14 on Kondratievsky Prospekt, No. 91 on Moskovsky Prospekt, No. 89 on the embankment of the Obvodny Canal.

The Committee for Culture announced a theatrical concert "The Way to Victory" at the Ice Palace on May 9 at 17:00.
"Sergei Galanin and the Seryoga group, Honored Artist of Russia Zara, Honored Artist of St. Petersburg Grigory Chernetsov, Margarita Adyasova, the Nevsky Dawns Dance ensemble and other famous artists will take the stage," the Committee said.
The concert "We Need One Victory" will be held at the House of Officers on Liteyny Prospekt at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. The Northern Symphony Symphony Orchestra of the Fyodor Chaliapin Musical Theater will perform under the direction of artistic director and conductor Fabio Mastrangelo. "To the sounds of a military brass band, young men in military uniforms and girls in dresses from the 1940s will waltz, giving joy and warmth to all the guests of the holiday. The Museum-Institute of the Roerich Family on the 18th line of Vasilievsky Island invites you to the concert "United by Victory" at 16:00. Laureates of international competitions will perform songs and arias by Soviet composers, including works by Veniamin Basner, David Tukhmanov, Bulat Okudzhava and Matvey Blanter.
A concert performance "In the name of Life and Love" will be shown at the Educational Theater on Mokhovaya at 18:00. A creative propaganda team of students from Professor Vladimir Norenko's workshop will present musical and choreographic performances, wartime songs and Victory poems.
The Philharmonic of Jazz Music invites you to the concert "Melodies of the War Years" performed by the Leningrad Dixieland at 19:00. The program will be presented by the head of the band, Honored Artist of Russia Oleg Kuvaytsev (tenor saxophone).
