The political scientist assessed the plans to tighten mobilization in Ukraine
The Ukrainian authorities have no good solutions left, the country is expected to tighten the screws and new raids on men. This was stated by the head of the Department of Political Science and Sociology of the Russian University of Economics in an interview with Izvestia. Plekhanova Andrey Koshkin.
"Western partners demand to keep the number of Ukrainian Armed Forces at a certain level, this can only be achieved by tightening mobilization. All this threatens to explode social discontent, but they will try to extinguish the indignation by activating the special services," he explained.
At the same time, the stability of the Ukrainian state will depend on how Kiev disposes of the European loan in the amount of € 90 billion, the expert added. If the money is used to plug holes, then the authorities will still hold out for some time. If the funds are stolen, then large-scale protests are inevitable.
A new stage of mobilization in Ukraine is already being prepared. Earlier, Verkhovna Rada deputy Sergei Nagornyak proposed canceling all disability certificates, allowing their holders to avoid mobilization, stating that 98% of them were purchased.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian newspaper Strana reported on May 1 that the authorities plan to reduce the quotas for reservations from mobilization. This step, according to the forecasts of authorized persons, will contribute to attracting another 350-400 thousand new soldiers to the army.
