Boxer Tszyu defeated Spaniard Diaz ahead of schedule in a fight for the WBO Inter-Continental title.

Australian boxer Nikita Tszyu defeated Spaniard Oscar Diaz in a duel for the title of the intercontinental champion (WBO International) in the first middleweight division. The tournament took place on May 6 in Newcastle.

In the middleweight bout, the fight ended with a technical knockout in the seventh round. Thus, 28-year-old Tszyu won the 12th victory in his professional career in the weight category up to 69.9 kg.

At the same time, the athlete's previous fight, which took place in January against Australian Michael Zerafa for the WBO middleweight title, was declared invalid after a clash of heads in the second round, Sport-Express adds.

On May 2, Japanese boxer Naoya Inoue retained the status of the absolute world champion in the weight category up to 55.22 kg in a duel against compatriot Junto Nakatani in Tokyo. The fight lasted all 12 rounds and ended with Inoue's victory by decision of the judges.
