A humanoid robot monk has appeared at the Choges Buddhist Temple in Seoul. This was reported on May 6 by the Yonhap news agency.

"Gabi promised not to harm humans and other robots, not to cheat, and to conserve energy," the publication says.

A traditional ceremony of taking Buddhist vows took place on the territory of the temple, the main participant of which was a robot with a height of 130 cm. After the ceremony, the robot was named Gaby, which translates as "compassion." During the ceremony, he was dressed in traditional monastic attire and clasped his hands in a prayer gesture.

According to the agency, the ceremony was held on the eve of the celebration of the Buddha's birthday, which is celebrated in South Korea on May 24. Representatives of the Choge Buddhist Order stated that the event symbolizes the harmonious coexistence of man and technology, as well as the connection of traditions and the future.

Restaurants have opened in Hangzhou, China, where robots using artificial intelligence (AI) scan visitors to recommend dishes that are good for their health. Before making an order, the customer undergoes an AI analysis: robots scan his face and tongue, and then offer to fill out a short questionnaire.
