In the USA, a baby was born twice thanks to an innovative operation
Doctors from the United States partially removed the fetus from the mother's uterus at the 25th week of pregnancy, formed its airways, and then returned it back. This was reported on May 6 by The Guardian newspaper.
"A baby from Florida was born twice after an innovative operation that saved his life. A few weeks before giving birth, his mother partially removed the fetus from the womb," the publication says.
The child was diagnosed with a rare upper respiratory tract obstruction syndrome, which often leads to death. After Keysher's successful intervention, Joubert gave birth to her son Cassian six weeks later.
The boy spent more than four months in the intensive care unit. Parents plan to celebrate two birthdays: the anniversary of the operation and the day of the actual birth.
The BBC reported on February 12 that Patrick Chernley, a British resident, suffered a 40-minute cardiac arrest and survived, but is still struggling with the consequences. After waking up from a coma, Chernli became blind, later partially regaining his sight.
