Doctors from the United States partially removed the fetus from the mother's uterus at the 25th week of pregnancy, formed its airways, and then returned it back. This was reported on May 6 by The Guardian newspaper.

The child was diagnosed with a rare upper respiratory tract obstruction syndrome, which often leads to death. After Keysher's successful intervention, Joubert gave birth to her son Cassian six weeks later.

The boy spent more than four months in the intensive care unit. Parents plan to celebrate two birthdays: the anniversary of the operation and the day of the actual birth.
