As a result of the attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the territory of the Chuvash Republic, 40 apartment buildings, a kindergarten, as well as a number of educational institutions were damaged. This was announced on May 6 by Governor Oleg Nikolaev.

"Yesterday's massive attack damaged 40 apartment buildings and a number of social facilities, including schools, kindergartens and an electromechanical college," he wrote on his page in the Maks messenger.

Commenting on the emergency regime introduced in the region, Nikolaev noted its effectiveness. Thus, authorized persons can promptly mobilize available resources and direct funds from the budget to pay for emergency work.

"I set the task to restore the affected housing stock and social infrastructure as soon as possible. These facilities are the basis of the vital activity of our citizens, they must function smoothly," added Nikolaev.

The governor noted that 70 specialists are currently making rounds of apartments, where they are assessing the damage caused to them, and other experts are already involved in the restoration work. At the same time, temporary accommodation facilities (PVR) are operating in the region, where over 1 thousand people are located.

As the head of the region emphasized, lump-sum payments, compensation for loss of property and health benefits are available to all victims.

The attack of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on Cheboksary was launched by Ukrainian militants on May 5. Then Nikolaev noted the operational and regular work of local services. The head of the regional Ministry of Education, Dmitry Zakharov, commenting on the incident, said that all schools and technical schools in the region had temporarily switched to a remote work format.

Representatives of the Main Investigative Directorate (GSO) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation have opened a criminal case on a terrorist act, during which, as of May 6, two people were killed and at least 35 others were injured.
