Special Children's Education Center opened in Birobidzhan

The Far Eastern Scientific and Methodological Center for Social Education and Psychological and Pedagogical Rehabilitation has been opened in Birobidzhan. It was created on the basis of the Steps Education Center.

As the Governor of the EAO, Maria Kostyuk, said at the opening ceremony, this is a joint project with the Institute of Correctional Pedagogy. The cooperation was launched by the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergey Kravtsov. Several times, federal-level specialists came to the region, introduced teachers to new methods and advised parents.

After the opening of the center, such work will become permanent. Teachers will master the educational programs of the Institute. This means that parents will have more confidence in their child's future, and children will have more opportunities for development.

The Center will become a key resource link for the development of inclusive education in the Far East. The purpose of the work is to ensure the development of a system of education and support for children with disabilities. The Institute of Correctional Pedagogy is one of Russia's leading research centers in the field of defectology. Since the Soviet era, he has been developing and implementing programs to work with children with developmental delays, visual, speech, and hearing impairments. In August, at the International Educational Forum "Education of the Future", the leadership of the EAO signed a cooperation agreement with him. This week, the institute's specialists are conducting training seminars for teachers of the EAO, advising on complex practical issues, and sharing methodological materials.
