The production of passenger car tires in the first quarter of 2026 decreased by 23.26% year-on-year and amounted to 6.66 million units. This was reported on May 6 by Kommersant with reference to data from the CRPT (operator of the Honest Sign labeling system).

The output of summer tires decreased by 25.7% (to 4.7 million units), winter studded tires — by 5.2% (to 537 thousand units), and all—season tires - by 16.7% (to 395 thousand units).

The interlocutors of the publication attribute the negative dynamics of production to the pressure of Chinese imports.

The weighted average prices for passenger car tires in the first quarter of this year, according to the CRPT, increased by 3.76% year-on-year, to 7.51 thousand rubles. Relative to the fourth quarter of 2025, the cost decreased by 4%.

As it became known on April 16, major manufacturers of automobile tires asked the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) to protect the Russian market from increasingly increasing imports, mainly from China. China accounts for about 75% of shipments, mainly budget segment tires.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has requested information from Russian tire manufacturers on production and supply volumes for 2025, as well as exports. The agency announced this on April 10. Thus, based on the information received, the FAS intends to assess the level of competition in the market and identify areas where antimonopoly regulation measures are needed.
