- Alikhanov announced the readiness of the import-substituted SJ-100 for serial deliveries.
The fully import-substituted Superjet-100 airliner is ready for serial deliveries and will start operating regular flights across Russia presumably at the end of 2026. This was announced on May 6 by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Anton Alikhanov.
"The serial production of the aircraft is fully ready. The first production car has already passed factory tests, and we are ready to put it on board immediately after receiving the type certificate. Next is the issue of operation within the airline itself," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The SJ-100 is a short-range, narrow-body aircraft. It was created under the program of import substitution of systems and components. It will become another model of the currently exported Superjet airliners. Currently, 26 serial aircraft out of 42 contracted ones are in varying degrees of readiness.
On April 29, Rostec, the Russian State Corporation (GC), said that the new PD-8 engine, intended for Superjet aircraft, was tested in conditions of a potential ship hitting a cloud from squally hail. Tests conducted in the open area of the Rybinsk ODK-Saturn enterprise showed that the power plant works reliably even in the conditions of the described extreme situation.
