A fighter of the Russian Armed Forces spoke about the interception of telephone conversations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces mercenaries from Colombia

Russian electronic intelligence assets intercept telephone conversations of Colombian mercenaries of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) through mobile networks and radio stations. This was announced on May 6 by the deputy commander of the RER company of the 71st Motorized Rifle Division of the 14th Army Corps of the North group of forces with the call sign Topaz.

"Our equipment allows listening to the enemy both in the mobile network and in the radio network. <...> . In their conversations, they indicated quantitative data, where everything was located <...>. And based on these conversations, by translating these conversations, we realized that these were Colombian mercenaries," the soldier said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He assumed, based on intelligence reports, that there were a significant number of militants from Colombia in the group. According to him, the Colombians joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine only because of the financial reward. At the same time, the agency's interlocutor stressed that the Colombians have neither the desire to go to the front line, nor any fighting skills.

People from the region are a more reliable resource for Kiev than the mobilized fleeing the battlefield.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro said on May 5 that 7,000 citizens of his country are taking part in the conflict in Ukraine as mercenaries, resulting in senseless deaths. According to him, Colombia does not want to "export death" and stressed that mercenary activity is prohibited by law in the country.
