Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special presidential envoy for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, said on May 6 that the global aviation crisis was a harbinger of upheaval in other industries.

"In May, 12,000 flights were canceled. As predicted, the global aviation crisis is spreading rapidly and is a harbinger of more serious shocks in other sectors," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Dmitriev said on May 3 that the world is heading towards the largest energy crisis in history, without realizing the scale of what is happening.

The Guardian newspaper reported on April 16 that aviation fuel reserves in Europe could last for about six weeks, after which flight cancellations are possible amid the conflict with Iran.
