At least 10 sailors were killed amid the Iranian blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. This was announced on May 5 by the American Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

"At least 10 sailors have already died as a result of the actions of civilians," the Fox News channel quoted Rubio as saying.

According to the US Secretary of State, sailors are an easy target. He added that the United States would provide assistance to those stranded in the Strait of Hormuz.

On May 4, American soldiers received the authority to strike boats of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and missile positions of Iran in the event of a threat to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. He added that a source close to the US presidential administration described this as "the beginning of a process that could lead to confrontation with the Iranians."

On May 3, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States would help withdraw ships blocked due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump also pointed out that the relocation of ships is intended only to free people, companies and countries that have become victims of circumstances.
