The Russian ambassador pointed out the damage to Germany from anti-Russian actions
Berlin's anti-Russian attitude is more damaging to Germany itself than to Russia. This was announced on May 6 by Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev.
"Berlin's policy of undermining Russia's economic, industrial, scientific and military potential has a painful effect, first of all, on Germany itself. Its industrial production has been declining for the fifth year in a row," Nechaev said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
He noted that economic recovery after a prolonged recession is doubtful. According to Nechayev, Germany, in an effort to completely isolate Russia, deprived themselves of effective market and rich resources base, thanks to which the country prospered.
Rolf Mutzenich, chairman of the parliamentary group of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) in the Bundestag, said on May 3 that Europe needed to discuss the issue of armaments with Russia, including reducing the arsenal in Kaliningrad. He noted that it is necessary to insist on the withdrawal of Russian intermediate-range missiles with nuclear warheads from Belarus and Kaliningrad, so that European countries could return to the model of "smart diplomacy."
