Bloomberg reported on Iraq's attempts to sell oil at the expense of large discounts
Iraq has offered discounts on oil shipped this month due to the need for tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported on May 5 by the Bloomberg news agency with reference to the SOMO state oil company.
"The OPEC oil producer is offering discounts to official prices of up to $33.40 per barrel for its flagship Basrah Medium crude. The document is dated May 3 and contains a list of price levels for different periods of the month," the publication says.
According to the agency, the discounts offered reflect Baghdad's desire to boost exports in the face of ongoing risks and restrictions on the global oil market.
