The Japanese government denies any involvement in joint work with Kiev in the field of unmanned technologies. This was announced on May 6 by the deputy of the upper house of the Japanese parliament Muneo Suzuki.

"There have been talks about cooperation between the Japanese government and Ukraine in the field of drones, but the government is not involved in this. This is being done by a private company," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Suzuki stressed that during negotiations with Russian officials, he explicitly stated that this was not about the state apparatus, but about a Japanese private enterprise that, through third countries, carries out so-called cooperation with Ukraine in the field of creating unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said at a meeting with Suzuki on May 5 that Moscow was expressing concern about Tokyo's looming policy of providing military and technical assistance to Kiev. Galuzin also outlined to his interlocutor the approaches of the Russian side to topical issues on the international agenda.

The head of the international committee of the Federation Council, Grigory Karasin, said on April 9 that potential cooperation between the Japanese and Ukrainian sides on the issue of armaments could harm the normalization of relations between Russia and Japan. Speaking about this, he recommended his Japanese colleagues to start thinking about the future and act based on it.
