- The Russian and Qatari foreign Ministers discussed the situation in Hormuz during a telephone conversation.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed Al-Thani discussed the situation in and around the Strait of Hormuz during a telephone conversation. This was reported on May 5 in the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"A general opinion was expressed on the need to abandon attempts at forceful solutions to the crisis," the Telegram channel said in a statement.
In addition, the parties agreed on the need to combine the efforts of all interested parties to help achieve a long-term settlement of the situation, including agreements on measures to ensure the security of the Persian Gulf countries, as well as the principles of freedom of navigation.
On May 4, Lavrov discussed the situation in the Middle East during a telephone conversation with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelati. The parties discussed in detail the situation in the region, which arose against the background of the actions of the United States and Israel against Iran. At the same time, the heads of departments noted the importance of resuming negotiations to achieve a long-term and sustainable settlement of the crisis in the Persian Gulf region.
