Zakharova pointed to the "stalling" of the peace process in the Middle East
There is a "stalling" in the negotiation process between Iran and the United States and possible provocations aimed at sabotaging peace efforts. This was announced on May 5 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"We regret to note that the developments around Iran indicate a stalling of the negotiation process to resolve the situation in the Persian Gulf. Against this background, we urge all parties to exercise maximum restraint and restraint," she said in a comment on the situation around Iran, published on the agency's website.
Zakharova added that provocations may be undertaken by individual forces that seek to prevent the situation from stabilizing. She stressed that in these circumstances, the Russian Foreign Ministry calls on all parties to the conflict to exercise maximum restraint and restraint.
On March 5, US President Donald Trump, in an interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt, said that the armed conflict with Iran could last from two to three more weeks. Trump expressed confidence that the current confrontation would end either with the signing of an agreement with Tehran on Washington's terms, or with the final military defeat of the enemy.
On May 2, the day his administration received a 14-point settlement plan from Tehran, Trump said he wanted to destroy all of Iran's remaining missile potential. The next day, he rejected the Islamic Republic's proposal to end the conflict, calling it unacceptable.
