The psychologist explained the ability of scammers to deceive Russians
Scammers attack the basic mechanisms of the psyche that any person has. Psychologist Rodion Chepalov told about this on Tuesday, May 5. He noted that there are several psychological factors.
"The first one is stress and overload. When a person is tired, busy, or anxious, they make decisions faster and check information less. The second is authority. If the caller introduces himself as an employee of a bank or government agency, automatic trust is activated. The third is fear. Messages like "your money is in danger" or "a loan is being issued to you" trigger a threat reaction," Chepalov said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
The psychologist added that greed and the hope of profit play a role when they promise easy money or discounts. In addition, there is an "urgency effect" when scammers do not give the victim time to think. Chepalov added that there are several types of deception schemes.
"The first type is "scarecrows", when they put pressure on fear. The second is the "benefit", when they promise bonuses, winnings, and investments. The third is "caring", when they supposedly help solve a problem. The fourth is "social pressure", when they create the feeling that everyone has already done this action," the specialist explained.
The psychologist emphasized that first of all you need to pause — even five minutes reduce the likelihood of error. In addition, there should be a ban on acting under pressure, that is, if you are in a hurry, this is a danger signal. Chepalov added that it is important to teach this to loved ones, especially the elderly, as they often act out of trust and respect for authority.
Earlier in the day, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin said that the lower house of parliament plans to make decisions on the second package of bills aimed at combating fraud in May, RT reports. In the near future, deputies will continue to consider initiatives providing for the introduction of additional measures to protect citizens. 360.ru .
