The Chinese Navy has announced the successful completion of tests of a new naval air defense system designed to intercept drones. This was reported on May 5 by the SCMP newspaper with reference to the CCTV TV channel.

The final test "in difficult electromagnetic conditions", conducted in the waters of the Bohai Bay, confirmed the full compliance of the new system with the operational requirements.

The air defense system intercepted several unmanned aerial vehicles carrying out attacks of "high complexity" at ultra-low altitudes in a "realistic" combat simulation, the material says.

As a result, the serial production of these weapons was approved for its subsequent deployment on warships of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA), the newspaper said.

On February 4, SCMP wrote that China had created the world's first 20 GW TPG1000Cs microwave weapon. According to the newspaper, the compact ground-based installation can be used to affect satellites in low-Earth orbit.
