More than 70 thousand hectares of fallow will be prepared for crops in Transbaikalia

In Transbaikalia, they plan to prepare about 71.1 thousand hectares of pure fallow for crops in 2027. Farmers will start work after the sowing campaign, the press service of the region reported in the Maks messenger.

According to ChitaMedia news agency, the largest amount of work will be carried out in Chernyshevsky (25.9 thousand hectares), Krasnokamensky (20 thousand hectares) and Priargunsky (9.9 thousand hectares) districts.

The steam rise will begin in the middle and end of June and will last until September. High-quality soil preparation helps to preserve moisture in case of drought, while poor steam reduces grain yields.

A fallow field is a piece of arable land in a crop rotation that is left unfilled for a certain period of time. The land is kept in a weed-free and loosened state to restore its fertility, accumulate moisture and nutrients.

Earlier it was reported that about 3 thousand units of agricultural machinery will be involved in spring field work in Transbaikalia. The sowing campaign will begin after May 10.
