Outdated Red Book to be republished in Stavropol

The outdated regional Red Book will be republished in Stavropol at the request of the regional prosecutor's office. It turned out that no work had been carried out to update the data, the press service of the department reports.

The violation was revealed during an inspection of the implementation of legislation on the protection of flora and fauna. For example, the first volume on plants was published in June 2013, and the second (animals) in April 2013.

According to the law, the republication of the regional Red Book must be carried out at least once every 10 years on electronic and paper media, writes IA StavropolMedia.

The agency estimated that violations make it difficult to protect rare plants and endangered animals in the region. In this regard, the prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit against the regional Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment demanding that the books be republished. The court sided with the plaintiff.
