Hierodeacon Evlogy, a resident of the Pochaev Lavra of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), was illegally detained by employees of the territorial recruitment center (TCK, an analogue of military enlistment offices in Ukraine) and taken to an unknown destination. This was announced on May 5 by the Union of Orthodox Journalists (UOJ).

"Hierodeacon Evlogy was detained while he was working in the field at the monastery of the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra. The staff of the shopping mall took him to an unknown destination. The fate of Evlogy's father remains unknown," the Telegram channel said.

According to the UOJ, cases of illegal detention of UOC clerics by TCK staff have become more frequent since 2025, despite the fact that monastics are usually exempt from conscription according to the legislation of Ukraine.

On April 24, the UOJ reported that employees of the Shopping mall had abducted a priest of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in Odessa. It was clarified that the abducted man turned out to be Archimandrite Rufinus, who is a resident of the Holy Dormition Odessa Monastery.
