Britain has expanded sanctions against Russia
The UK has expanded sanctions against Russia to include eight companies and 10 individuals in the new list. This became known on May 5 from a message published on the website of the Ministry of Finance of the country.
"On May 5, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Commonwealth of Nations and Development updated the list of UK sanctions with the following 18 additions," the document says.
In particular, companies from Cameroon, China and Thailand were sanctioned. In addition, the restrictions apply to a number of employees of the Alabuga Start program. In total, six individuals and one organization were affected by the bans due to their links to this program.
Pavel Nikitin is also included in the sanctions list. It is claimed that he is the owner of companies producing combat drones. The restrictions also apply to five more companies and one Russian citizen who are allegedly involved in the supply of components for the assembly of drones.
The Reuters news agency said a day earlier that the British authorities intend to join the participation in a pan-European loan for Ukraine in the amount of € 90 billion. The press service of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed to the agency that at the summit of the European Political Community in Yerevan, the kingdom will announce its desire to cooperate with the EU to support Ukraine in obtaining military equipment.
The provision of a loan of €90 billion to the Ukrainian side was approved on April 23.
