Alikhanov estimated the time to create a new aircraft from scratch
It will take over 20 years to fully create a new aircraft without using developments from world practice. This was announced on May 5 by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov.
"If you didn't have anything to create an airliner and you decided to build all the systems, engines, airframe, aerodynamics, and so on from scratch, 20 years won't be enough for you," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to Alikhanov, not all such projects turn out to be successful. As an example, the minister cited the Japanese company Mitsubishi, whose program to create an original aircraft resulted in multibillion-dollar losses. The first sample never took off, he recalled.
Rostec State Corporation announced on April 29 that the new PD-8 engine, intended for Superjet series aircraft, was tested in conditions of a potential vessel hitting a cloud from a squally hail. The tests, which took place in the open area of the Rybinsk ODK-Saturn enterprise, showed that the power plant works reliably even in the conditions of the described extreme situation. The experts tested the behavior of the sample when flying at different speeds and altitudes, as well as at different temperatures.
