In St. Petersburg, a speedboat crashed into a fence located at the junction of the Griboyedov Canal and the Moika River. This was reported on May 5 by a source of Izvestia.

"There were three men on the ship, and two of them were lying motionless after a collision with the guardrail. The boat lost control and circled the channel, hitting the walls," he said.

It is specified that when representatives of the emergency services arrived at the scene of the accident, its participants were not there — two of them managed to escape, and another one swam away in an unknown direction. Authorized persons are currently investigating all the details of the incident.

On May 3, another Izvestia source reported that a boat with children capsized on the Moskva River after a collision with another boat. Then, as a result of the incident, no one was injured. The next day, the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia announced that a criminal case had been opened into the accident in accordance with Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements").
