The endocrinologist named the risks of using tea bags
Tea bags are not dangerous by themselves, but their quality and composition can affect your health. Oksana Mikhaleva, an endocrinologist, nutritionist at SM Clinic, Candidate of Medical Sciences, told Izvestia about the possible risks and signs of a substandard product on May 7.
According to her, tea bags by themselves do not pose a health hazard. However, the nuance lies in the quality of the raw materials: tea of a lower grade is most often used for such products.
"In this case, manufacturers use finely ground tea leaves, which are formed when packing large or small-leaved tea in regular packaging. And, accordingly, the taste of such products is somewhat worse. Therefore, if you are a tea lover, it is recommended to buy tea in a package," Mikhaleva explained.
At the same time, as the expert emphasized, the potential risks are related not so much to the packaging format as to the composition of the product. If flavorings, flavorings, or colorants are present in packaged tea, this may affect your well-being.
"Of course, flavorings and other food additives that are used in the manufacture of such products are allowed to be used in the territory of the Russian Federation. However, they can lead to some unpleasant consequences in people who are prone to allergies," the doctor noted.
According to Mikhaleva, dyes that can be added to enhance the color of the drink deserve special attention. This may indicate a low quality of raw materials, as well as cause negative reactions from the gastrointestinal tract and allergic manifestations. The presence of such additives can be determined by indirect signs: if tea quickly stains the water or leaves a dark coating on the dishes, this may indicate the use of dyes.
"But it should be warned that plaque on the cup can normally remain even when brewing good black tea, if it stays in the cup for a long time (more than a few hours). If you just drank tea, and a plaque has already formed in the mug, then most likely a dye was used," the experts added.
Endocrinologist and nutritionist Anton Polyakov said that the most dangerous baked goods for health are fried dough with sausage. According to him, such snacks as a whole cannot be called healthy, and the most correct option would be to completely abandon them. According to him, fried dough with sausage is considered the most harmful — it is better to replace such food with skipping a snack.
