The governor of the department of Cundinamarca, Jorge Emilio Rey Angel, said on May 5 that at least 12 people remain under the rubble after the accident at the La Trinidad mine.

"According to the latest report, the incident affected 15 miners. Three of them were able to get out on their own, and one has already been transferred to a medical center for examination," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

It is noted that the incident occurred in the Mantogrande sector, where the miners were working at a depth of about 600 m. The governor added that response teams and three ambulances are already at the scene.

Earlier in the day, the governor reported an explosion at the P3 Carbonera Los Pinos mine, located in the Penas de Boquerón sector. According to preliminary data, the cause was the accumulation of gas.

The Dunya News channel reported on April 16 that rescuers in Pakistan had pulled out a worker who had spent 16 days under the rubble due to a mine collapse. It was clarified that the incident occurred in the Pakistani City of Deri. Then, as a result of the landslide, nine workers were killed and three were injured. The missing Abdul Wahab was in the mine with other workers at the time of the collapse.
