The media reported on the passage of the Maersk vessel through the Strait of Hormuz
The container ship of the Danish company Maersk, flying the flag of the United States, crossed the Strait of Hormuz, accompanied by the American military. This was reported on May 4 by the Danish TV channel TV2 with reference to the company's statement.
"The Maersk vessel passed safely through the Strait of Hormuz, escorted by the military," the publication says.
According to the TV channel, the commercial vessel has been in the Persian Gulf since the beginning of the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. The carrier could not take the aircraft out of the area, as there were no safety guarantees.
It is clarified that representatives of the American army contacted Maersk themselves and offered to provide escort for the container ship while passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM) earlier that day reported that the United States would begin supporting the Freedom Project on May 4 in order to restore freedom of navigation for commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz with the participation of 15,000 military personnel. The mission, initiated by US President Donald Trump, will provide support to merchant ships seeking to pass through the Strait of Hormuz unhindered.
On May 3, Trump announced that the United States would help withdraw ships blocked due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. The American leader also pointed out that the relocation of ships is intended only to free people, companies and countries that have become victims of circumstances. According to him, this gesture will be an important expression of goodwill.
