British Prime Minister Keir Starmer was forced to actually stop participating in the election campaign of the ruling Labor Party due to extremely low personal popularity and "toxicity." This was reported on May 5 by The Daily Telegraph newspaper, citing sources.

Local elections in the UK will be held on Thursday, May 7. They will allocate 4.8 thousand seats in 134 legislative bodies, and the composition of the parliaments of Wales and Scotland will also be determined. According to forecasts of the publication, the Labor Party may lose up to 2 thousand seats in the city councils of England and for the first time in history lose control of the Senedd — the parliament of Wales.

According to the newspaper, because of Starmer's "toxic image", regional politicians prefer to distance themselves from the head of government.

According to a senior Labor Party official, Starmer is perceived as insincere and two-faced. He also noted that the Prime Minister has no followers. In addition, the sources of the publication stressed that many Labor members of local councils do not want Starmer to join them in their constituencies to participate in the election campaign.

Bloomberg reported on April 22 that Starmer's Labor Party, which is rapidly losing ratings, could lose a record number of votes in the upcoming municipal elections on May 7. According to a survey of more than 4,500 London residents, the Labor Party is still in the lead in the capital with 26% of the vote, but will be able to get a majority in only 15 of the 32 districts.
