The media reported on the suspension of the IOC special commission on esports
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has suspended the work of a special commission on esports. This was reported on May 3 by the Kyodo news agency.
"The IOC has suspended the activities of its specialized committee on esports, which includes computer game competitions," the publication says.
It is noted that IOC President Kirsty Coventry sent a letter to the members of the commission at the end of January, in which she announced that she would personally oversee the issue of esports. She also pointed out the need to develop a more holistic approach consistent with the overall strategy of the Olympic movement.
Vitaly Petrov, the first Russian Formula 1 driver, said on March 5 that he had been training on a Sony PlayStation. He added that the teams currently have professional and very expensive simulators, but 15 years ago such technologies were rare. According to Petrov, taking into account the capabilities of modern simulators, we can confidently say that this is not only esports, but also a kind of bridge to the world of real racing.
