A KamAZ truck that caused a massive accident on the MKAD was found to exceed the permissible mass by almost half. This was announced on May 4 by the Moscow Department of Transport.

"According to preliminary data, as a result of weighing the truck, an excess of 15 tons was detected. The permissible weight of a cargo vehicle in running order is 25 tons, weighing showed 40 tons (40,840 kg)," the ministry said in a statement.

Earlier it became known that the cause of the accident was a failure of the truck's braking system. The Department of Transport clarified that law enforcement agencies will clarify all the circumstances, including the issue of passing a technical inspection of KAMAZ.
