- The Russian Embassy announced an attempt to disrupt the Immortal Regiment rally in Amsterdam.
An attempt to disrupt the Immortal Regiment action in Amsterdam was made by a group of people who arrived from Ukraine. This was announced on May 4 at the Russian Embassy in the Netherlands.
"This year's commemorative event was organized primarily by Dutch citizens through the Platform for Peace and Solidarity. It was not the subjects of the kingdom who tried to prevent the gathering, but an openly Nazi group of "refugees from the square", who were hiding from the regime of [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky is on Dutch soil," TASS quoted the diplomatic mission as saying.
According to the embassy, the band members demonstrated neo-Nazi symbols and shouted aggressive slogans. About 10 masked men tried to obstruct the rally and harassed the participants. Despite this, the action took place with police escort, the participants marched through the central streets of the city with portraits of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War (WWII).
Earlier in the day, Gunnar Lindemann, a member of the Berlin House of Representatives, said in an interview with Izvestia that the decision of the city's police to ban the wearing of awards and listening to Russian and Soviet songs on May 8 and 9 was an attempt to rewrite history. The politician also noted that the winners have the right to "appropriately celebrate this liberation."
