The Iranian Navy fired warning shots at US ships trying to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. This was announced on May 4 by the Fars news agency in its Telegram channel.

"The naval forces of the [Iranian] army, having fired warning cruise missiles, missiles and combat drones near enemy infringing vessels, have sounded the alarm; the responsibility and consequences of such risky actions will fall on a hostile enemy," the publication says.

The actions were taken after the American ships failed to respond to warnings from the Iranian side.

Earlier in the day, the Associated Press announced the successful passage of the strait by two ships.

On May 4, American soldiers received the authority to strike boats of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and missile positions of Iran in the event of a threat to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. He added that a source close to the US presidential administration described this as "the beginning of a process that could lead to confrontation with the Iranians."

On May 3, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States would help withdraw ships blocked due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump also pointed out that the relocation of ships is intended only to free people, companies and countries that have become victims of circumstances.

In response, the head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament, Ebrahim Azizi, said that the Islamic Republic would regard any US interference in navigation through the Strait of Hormuz as a violation of the ceasefire between the parties.
