- The IT expert named an effective way to protect elderly relatives from fraudsters
Cybersecurity expert Pavel Myasoedov advised Russians on Monday, May 4, to technically protect elderly relatives from fraudsters.
"Often, the most effective measure is some kind of limits on payment instruments, joint account management. You can arrange with the bank to be a verification factor in transactions," he said in an interview with the "Paragraph".
The specialist also included spam call blockers that work at the carrier level. However, many pensioners take out several SIM cards, which reduces the effectiveness of this method, Myasoedov added.
Earlier that day, the press service of the Moshelovka platform of the Popular Front warned that scammers were calling Russian veterans and, under the pretext of receiving a lump sum payment for Victory Day, were asking them to name the code from an SMS message, according to the website. kp.ru .
The attackers pose as employees of the Social Fund. The SMS code may refer to a banking transaction or to a personal account. If a veteran calls him, he risks losing money or his personal data, RT reports.
Moshelovka clarified that veterans receive a call from the Social Fund about a personal payment by May 9, and for enrollment they are asked to provide a text message code, writes Life.Ru .
They reminded that payments to veterans are made automatically or through the IFC, and this never requires SMS codes.
Earlier, on May 2, it was reported that fraudsters began to deceive Russians and gain access to their accounts on "Public Services" under the pretext of making a "recalculation" of utility bills, IA Regnum reports.
On May 1, the press service of the Moshelovka platform of the Popular Front said that fraudsters began using a new deception scheme, in which they intimidate Russians by charging fines for hogweed on the site. It is noted that the victim allegedly faces a fine of 50 thousand rubles for violation. Under the pretext of resolving the situation or paying at a discount, fraudsters force the summer resident to go to a website disguised as the Gosuslugi portal.
