Almost 40% of Russians are proud of their ability to save money
Almost 40% of Russians are proud of their ability to save money and consider thrift an important part of their personal financial strategy. This is evidenced by the results of a study of the <url> service, which was reviewed by Izvestia on May 5.
3,000 people aged 18 to 65 took part in the survey. According to the results, 41% of respondents directly associate income with a sense of personal success, while another 34% consider it an important but not the main factor. At the same time, 25% of respondents stated that they do not perceive earnings as an indicator of their own value.
Attitudes towards income are often accompanied by emotions. So, 29% of the participants admitted that they feel embarrassed or ashamed about their earnings, 46% treat it calmly, and 25% are proud of their financial results.
The study paid special attention to the attitude towards saving. Thus, 38% of Russians said they are proud of their ability to manage money rationally, 36% consider it necessary, and 26% believe that excessive saving reduces the quality of life.
"At the same time, 33% of respondents noted that their attitude to their own income is largely determined by the prestige of the profession, 37% focus primarily on the actual level of earnings, and 30% said that they do not associate professional status with a sense of financial success," analysts say.
With an increase in income, life satisfaction does not always increase. Thus, 31% of respondents noted that their needs are growing faster than earnings, 39% reported a partial improvement in self-esteem, and 30% felt a significant increase in confidence.
Olga Trofimenko, an expert on personal finance, said on May 3 that income growth often only compensates for the rise in prices of goods and services. In addition, there is an adaptation to the level of earnings, because of which a person begins to spend more, and the increase is quickly leveled. The expert cited loans and subscriptions as the third reason, which create a constant burden on the budget.
