The cars of the revived Volga brand will be a market success if they do not cost more than their Chinese counterparts and the prices of the models can be maintained. This was stated by Alexey Podshchekoldin, President of the Association of Russian Automobile Dealers (ROAD).

"These cars should not cost more than their Chinese rivals. If you manage to keep the value, then the brand will be successful. The assembly is still in Nizhny Novgorod. This is our second little Detroit. There are a lot of institutes there, and the logistics are good. Central Russia, you can travel in all directions. As a poet, there are many chances, the main thing is the price of the car," Rossiyskaya Gazeta quoted Podshchekoldin as saying on May 4.

The head of the ROAD noted that Volga cars are based on well-known models that are successfully sold. He expressed the hope that their quality will pass to Volga. He pointed out that Volga does not have an image yet — Russians do not know that it is premium.

In the history of the country, Volga is a prestigious model, and now this prestige needs to be created anew for a new brand, Podshchekoldin said. He suggested that if cars cost around 3 million rubles, they would find themselves in a very competitive segment.

Earlier, on April 17, it became known that Gleb Nikitin, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, purchased a new Volga K50 crossover to test the car. He posted footage of the car and shared his impressions of the novelty. The model is scheduled to launch in the summer of 2026, along with the K40 crossover and the C50 sedan. All of them are based on Chinese cars, but in the future Volga intends to develop its own original models. Production of the Volga K50 and other models will be set up at the Nizhny Novgorod plant, which previously produced Skoda and Volkswagen cars.
