The series "On the Trail of the Beast" will reveal new facts of military history. It was based on a real episode of the Great Patriotic War (WWII), and in order to show it as reliably as possible, the actors had to endure a lot of trials. REN TV will show how our scouts resisted the German saboteurs on Victory Day. The details from the set were revealed by columnist Nikolai Nikulin.

After the battle of Stalingrad, the German command is preparing a counteroffensive near Kursk. Saboteurs have been thrown into the rear, and Soviet intelligence officers must neutralize them.

A significant part of the filming took place not in the pavilions, but in real alleged circumstances. Snow was falling, and the December frosts were relentless, but the entire film crew worked as a single team. This is the only way a real military-patriotic movie can be shot.

Dedication is an important acting quality. This is not only a brilliant transformation skill, but also physical fitness. There are harsh weather conditions in the forest, and it is necessary to overcome swamps.

"My experience filming war films suggests that the very willingness of the entire group and the artists is very important, not for self—sacrifice — we are for safety on the set — but for the willingness to live with their characters through all the physical difficulties," said producer Alexander Starikov.

Actor Mikhail Gavrilov-Tretyakov, in turn, noted that there is a lot of equipment and a lot of weapons on the set. The actor reported that his eyes were even burned because there was a shot nearby and a machine gun was rumbling nearby.

The main theme of the series is brotherhood. The two siblings had once parted ways. One of them is now suspected of treason. The intrigue of the series is twisted to the limit. And it's interesting to watch to the end also thanks to the excellent performers of the main roles: Pavel Kharlanchuk and Gavrilov-Tretyakov.

"I liked the character of Andrey Losev himself. This is the personification of the courage of that time, courage, bravery, valor," Gavrilov-Tretyakov said.

Kharlanchuk added that this is a "historical story." Soviet intelligence officers behind enemy lines, double agents, the work of minds on one side and on the other.

Historical texture also plays a role. And if the characters' images are collective, then the events unfolding on the screen fully correspond to the real facts.

"This story is based on the fact from Marshal Zhukov's memoirs that in the spring of 1943 he knew the date of the German offensive on the Kursk Bulge according to reports from the Voronezh Front intelligence department. There is a mystery here. We invite the audience to join us in finding the answer to what the Germans are up to," said director Peter Amelin.

He quickly found a common language with the actors, gave useful advice, and eventually directed a series powerful in its persuasiveness. REN TV viewers will see it very soon — on May 9th.

On May 3, film critic Nikolai Nikulin spoke about the actors of the spy thriller SMERSH. According to him, Igor Petrenko, who became famous back in 2002 for his role as a reconnaissance platoon commander in the film Zvezda, and Vladislav Kotlyarsky, who played a major and a police lieutenant colonel, have decent cinematic baggage for key roles in an action adventure.

On March 24, Medialogia presented on its website a Russian series rating consisting of the 100 most popular projects of the past year. The South Korean thriller "The Squid Game" took the first place with 42,861 points, the second place was taken by the American science fiction series "Stranger Things" (26,572 points), and the third place was taken by the Russian detective "Sled" (20,361 points).
