Germany and the United States have different views on bilateral relations, but the countries must continue to be partners and allies of each other. This was stated on May 3 by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in an interview with ARD TV channel.

"I have to admit that the President of the United States has a different view on these issues than we do. But this does not change the fact that I remain convinced that the Americans are important partners for us, the most important in the North Atlantic Alliance," the politician said.

As Merz acknowledged, US President Donald Trump is justifiably disappointed with the incomplete preparations of the European Union (EU) for the Turnberry trade agreement, which was concluded last year. As the Chancellor pointed out, there are forces in the European Parliament that are preventing the agreement.

"Frankly speaking, he is quite rightly a little disappointed that we in the European Union have not yet completed work on the Turnberry agreement, which was concluded last year in August in Scotland. There is still resistance to this agreement in the European Parliament," the politician said.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on the same day that relations between the United States and the EU have now reached the point of no return. He noted that American and European interests no longer coincide. According to his assessment, Serbia does not expect anything good from such changes and tension in international relations.
