The Russian Diplomatic Mission in Moldova is assisting in the restoration of military monuments and graves, as well as helping to conduct search operations at the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) on the territory of the republic. On May 3, Alexey Petrovich, the head of the Moldovan coordinating committee of Pobeda and the search movement, told about this in the Telegram channel.

"Since the revival of search work in the Republic of Moldova, the Embassy of the Russian Federation has always been close by. As part of humanitarian cooperation, the Russian diplomatic mission is assisting in the restoration of military monuments and graves, in carrying out search operations at the sites of past battles, and in holding burial ceremonies for fallen heroes," he said.

Last Saturday, May 2, employees of the Russian Embassy in Moldova, headed by Ambassador Oleg Ozerov, also took part in a ceremony to pay military and Orthodox honors to 16 heroes of the Red Army at the Sherpensky Bridgehead memorial complex.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, told Izvestia on October 9 last year that the Moldovan authorities, having approved the regulations on the demolition of monuments, would undoubtedly not stop there and would go further — they would begin to rewrite history and trample on Christian shrines. Earlier in the day, the Moldovan Ministry of Culture approved a document allowing the demolition of monuments if they do not meet public interests or cause a risk of social conflict.
