Private Rubtsov led the assault on the AFU stronghold
During the course of the combat mission, Private Leonid Rubtsov took over the leadership of an assault group that established control over an enemy stronghold. The press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on the exploits of servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the area of a special military operation on Monday, May 4.
It is specified that the operation was carried out at night. Under Rubtsov's leadership, the attack aircraft used electronic warfare (EW) equipment, camouflage, and protection from enemy drones with thermal imaging cameras. After covertly overcoming an open area, the fighters headed to the flank of the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
After further assessment of the situation, Rubtsov gave the command to storm the fortifications. The element of surprise allowed the Russian military to destroy enemy personnel at the stronghold as soon as possible. The commander of the group himself personally eliminated several militants in their positions.
The department added that Sergeant Mikhail Belenko also helped to ensure stable uninterrupted communication between motorized rifle units. Despite the ongoing shelling, he was able to repair the damaged antenna device and repeater, which allowed him to restore communication and achieve the advance of the Russian assault groups.
A day earlier, the Defense Ministry also said that Junior Sergeant Vladimir Gubenko evacuated two wounded colleagues from the battlefield under enemy artillery fire. The unit came under fire during a combat mission. As a result, several soldiers received shrapnel wounds and were in danger. Gubenko personally carried two of them out of the battlefield, after which he promptly provided first aid to the victims. As a result, the lives of the fighters were saved.
