Trump abandoned Iran's three-step peace plan
The United States did not accept Iran's proposals to end the conflict in three stages. This was announced on May 3 by US President Donald Trump in an interview with the Israeli TV channel Kan News.
"The Iranians want to make a deal, but I'm not happy with what they offered. <... > There are things that I cannot agree with," he said.
According to the head of the White House, this proposal of the Islamic Republic turned out to be "unacceptable" for him. He added that "the campaign is going very well." At the same time, Trump also indicated his satisfaction with the naval blockade imposed on Iran.
On the same day, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi. He noted that the United States had sent proposals to Iran through Pakistan to resolve the conflict. However, he clarified that the initiative does not concern the Iranian nuclear program.
The Axios portal also reported that Iran had submitted a 14-point plan to the American side, in which it proposed that the United States agree within 30 days to cease hostilities, lift the blockade and open the Strait of Hormuz. According to the Iranian proposal, only after the deal is concluded will another month of negotiations begin.
