NATO holds closed-door meetings with screenwriters and directors in the United States and Europe to agree on the creation of projects promoting the interests of the alliance. This was reported on May 3 by The Guardian newspaper with reference to the participants of the film industry themselves.

NATO representatives have held three meetings in Los Angeles, Brussels and Paris, and are also planning to fly to London to meet with the British Screenwriters Guild. According to the newspaper, as a result of these meetings, the alliance has already agreed to create three separate projects in which the aggressiveness of the bloc will be pushed into the background, and cooperation in NATO will be the main topic.

At the same time, some screenwriters reacted negatively to this NATO initiative because of an attempt to influence creativity. Alan O'Gorman, the screenwriter of the film "Christie," called the alliance's actions and the upcoming meeting with the British Writers Guild "outrageous" and "blatant propaganda."

"It seemed inappropriate and crazy to present this as some kind of positive opportunity. Many people, including me, have friends and relatives from non—NATO countries who have suffered from wars in which NATO participated and which it fomented," the publication quotes him as saying.

Yesterday, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that NATO continues to collapse amid the withdrawal of 5,000 US troops from Germany. According to him, the members of the alliance should make every effort to reverse this process and prevent NATO from finally disintegrating.

In turn, Russia's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, noted that European NATO member countries are obsessed with the idea of an inevitable war, and exercises near the Russian borders indicate preparations for its outbreak. He added that the Northern Strike 26 exercises that began in Finland, which take place 70 km from the border with Russia, "pave the way" for a real war.
