The Pope will appoint a new head of the Catholic Archdiocese of the Mother of God in Moscow on a date he will determine on his own. This was announced on May 3 by the Vicar General of the Archdiocese in Moscow, Priest Kirill Gorbunov.

"The pope must appoint the new metropolitan of the archdiocese, and he is free to make his decision, including regarding the timing," Gorbunov told RIA Novosti.
