Tasnim reports on Iran's transfer of the peace plan to Washington
Tehran handed Washington a 14-point settlement plan in response to the proposal to end the war. This was reported on May 2 by the Tasnim news agency.
Iran insists on resolving key issues within 30 days and demands the unfreezing of foreign assets, as well as the lifting of sanctions.
"The United States has proposed a two—month cease-fire, but Iran insists that the issues be resolved in 30 days, shifting the focus from resuming the truce to a full-fledged end to the war," the Telegram channel said.
It clarifies that other conditions include the termination of the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and the creation of a new mechanism for regulating navigation, guarantees for the cessation of hostilities, the payment of compensation and the withdrawal of American armed forces from areas adjacent to Iran.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the same day that Iran had softened its demands for the United States to resume negotiations in the new draft peace agreement. It is also noted that Iran, through intermediaries, expressed its readiness to start negotiations in Pakistan early next week, provided Washington is ready to consider a new proposal.
On May 1, US President Donald Trump said he was not satisfied with Iran's latest peace proposal. He said that Washington and Tehran are continuing telephone talks, but expressed doubt that the parties will be able to come to an agreement. According to him, Tehran should rework the last sentence because it is "very dissatisfied with it."
CNN reported on April 27 that the United States and Iran continue to conduct behind-the-scenes negotiations on a peaceful settlement, the first stage of which may be an agreement to return to the pre-war status quo and resume free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
On April 30, Trump instructed his aides to prepare for a prolonged blockade of Iran in the Strait of Hormuz in order to financially exhaust Tehran, as the head of the White House considers the resumption of bombing a risky option.
