Vucic announced the crossing of the point of no return in US-EU relations
Relations between the United States and the European Union (EU) have now reached the point of no return. This was stated on May 2 by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic during an interview with Informer TV, published on YouTube.
"It is obvious that the interests no longer coincide, and we have reached a certain point of no return. Now it is only important that this relationship does not become bad. It is important that they remain workers," the politician said.
As Vucic pointed out, he considers the statements of US President Donald Trump about the withdrawal of American troops from Europe to be serious. According to his assessment, Serbia does not expect anything good from such changes and tension in international relations.
"We have a lot of people who are happy if these relations deteriorate, but I don't think there is anything good for the Serbian economy, for the Serbian economy, or for Serbian politics in general, if these relations are very bad," Vucic said.
On May 1, the Reuters news agency, citing the Pentagon, reported that the United States would withdraw 5,000 troops from Germany within 6-12 months. It is noted that the reduction in the number of troops will allow the number of American troops in Europe to return approximately to the level that existed before 2022.
Austrian geopolitical analyst Patrick Poppel noted on May 2 that the withdrawal of US troops from Germany is perceived very positively by many Germans, but Washington's decision may be a signal for the EU. He also pointed to attempts by European states to act independently in the field of armaments, which, according to him, could lead to an escalation in relations with Russia.
