American billionaire Elon Musk received more than $158 billion in 2025 thanks to a compensation agreement with his own company Tesla. This was reported on May 1 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing regulatory data.

"According to the report of the regulatory authorities, by 2025 this amount amounted to $ 158 billion," the publication clarifies.

Under the agreement, the amount of payments may amount to about $1 trillion over 10 years. Tesla shareholders approved such a remuneration package last year.

"The ten—year contract could be worth $1 trillion if Musk achieves all of his goals, including increasing Tesla's market capitalization to $8.5 trillion," the newspaper reports.

On April 1, Musk's American company SpaceX also filed a confidential application with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). US$ for an initial public offering (IPO). During the IPO, SpaceX can expect to be valued at more than $1.75 trillion. Thus, Musk's company can take the first place among the three "mega-IPOs" on the stock market, ahead of OpenAI and Anthropic PBC.

Forbes magazine reported on December 19 that Musk became the first person in history with a fortune exceeding $700 billion. The billionaire's fortune increased after the decision of the Supreme Court of Delaware, which overturned the lower court's decision to award stock options to Tesla, which are worth $ 139 billion.
