The UK needs to work more closely with the European Union (EU) against the backdrop of global instability. This was stated on May 2 by the Prime Minister of the kingdom, Keir Starmer, in an interview with the BBC television channel, broadcast on the YouTube channel.

"We need to change Britain, make it stronger and fairer <...> This means strengthening the economy, investing, technology, and removing all barriers to the economy. But it also means being much closer to the EU," he said.

Starmer noted that the world has entered a period of serious upheaval, including the conflict in Iran and the ongoing situation in Ukraine, which is having an impact on the country's economy. He stressed that London does not intend to participate in the war with Iran, pointing out that this is not in line with national interests.

The Prime Minister also pointed out the need to strengthen alliances and increase the country's sustainability through investment and technology development. According to him, Europe is not strong enough in the current conditions, and maintaining the status quo is impossible in the face of growing global tensions.

The Guardian newspaper reported on April 29 that the head of the British Royal Navy, Gwyn Jenkins, announced plans to create a joint naval force (Navy) with nine states and deploy them in northern Europe to respond to alleged threats from Russia.
