An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 occurred in the south of Honshu Island in Japan, the threat of a tsunami has not been announced. This was reported on May 2 by the Asahi newspaper, citing the Japan Meteorological Agency.
"According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of about 70 km, and its magnitude was estimated at 5.7," the publication says.
It is noted that there are no concerns about a tsunami as a result of this earthquake. The tremors occurred in the southern prefectures of Nara, Mie and Wakayama.
An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 occurred on the Japanese island of Hokkaido on April 27. Tremors were recorded about 30 km southwest of the city of Obihiro.
